This is a video that was produced for UNESCO about Silat. It was part of the pitch effort by Malaysia to get UNESCO's recognition of Silat as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
In the video, I explain the concepts and principles of Silat, especially regarding Tapak Diri, Tiang Diri and Gerak Diri.

I was interviewed by BFM radio station. about Silat being recognised by UNESCO. My interview begins at 7:37 in the recording.
"Good news - Silat has been recognised as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage! We look at the significance of this announcement as well as some of the other traditions that made the list, and whether this will help in the preservation of our cultural traditions."

I was interviewed on my opinions about martial arts, specifically silat and its deep relationship to Islam for this article on Huffington Post.
Silat teaches practitioners that they should dedicate their whole self, mind, body and soul to the intention of performing the art for the sake of God in order for the goal to be worthwhile. Apprentices should strive to be truthful, keep promises and act with strong conviction without disrespecting their parents and teachers.
